Still just takin' it easy

Still just takin' it easy here as the summer rolls on.

Weather this week has been either too much or not enough wind ... and the fallout from Tropical Storm Ernesto in Florida spells trouble for our weather this weekend .. oh well.

Some good friends of ours Peter & Heather Lacey dropped by for a visit this evening. We hope to take them out on the lake before the season is over.

Just takin' it easy

We're just takin' it easy this week spending time down at the boat and catching up on reading, gardening and shopping.

We went out for a sail today. As usual the wind forecast was wrong. By the time we were on our way, winds were blowing from the east at 15-20 knots. We had the full main up and reefed the genoa to its first point. The lake was rough with 1 meter rollers. We made 8.10 knots but didn't stay out long.

Forecast for the next few days isn't great, with moderate winds 20-25 kts, so we'll probably not get out Friday or Saturday. The Port Credit In-Water Boat Show starts tomorrow, so we'll probably check it out.

New Neighbours on K-Dock

We have new neighbours on "K" dock. Our friends Donna and Peter Howells arrived Saturday afternoon with their new Beneteau 343. The boat looks great.

Docking conditions in the harbour were a little wild though with moderate winds (10-15 knots) blowing off the lake. This made for some difficult conditions for docking.

Welcome Peter & Donna. Hopefully the harbour will be less stressfull next weekend.

We sailed on Sunday. Winds were great 10-15 knots and we easily made 7.8 knots.

Weekend Cruise to Mimico Cruising Club

We sailed over Mimico Cruising Club this weekend on a overnight cruise organized by our club P.C.Y.C. There were about 30 boats, both power and sail. It was a terrific weekend, beautiful weather and great sailing. We took some pictures on the way back to P.C.Y.C. of SHEER MADNESS owned by our friends Donna and Peter Howells. It's a C&C 27 Mk V. The pics of us were taken by Peter & Donna as we sailed side by side. Great photos guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At M.C.C we were docked beside VAGUE LOCATION, a Dufour 36 Classic owned by Jim & Irene French also from P.C.Y.C.

Now that's what you call a squall line

The storm came in at about 9pm. We went down to VICTURA to check lines and add an extra bow line. There was an enormous cloud wall and the temperture dropped about 6 degrees celcius in several minutes. Winds at the club were gusting to 30 knots and building. We left with the wind screaming and hoping everything would be ok.
